The cannonball oven permitted to heat the canonballs in order to set the ships that were struck by them on fire.(1)

The powder magazine dates back to the French revolution. It is perfectly well-preserved if compared with what remains of the fort. It has double walls with openings both on the inside and the outside wall.

The purpose of these openings was to maintain some air circulation in the building and to keep the powder as dry as possible.   The powder magazine has an enclosing wall of its own and its gate was closed at night.

The roof is covered with thick flagstones.
